Easy Compare Plans
Finding the right health insurance plan can be a challenge. Easy Compare plans make it simpler by giving you an apples-to-apples comparison between different insurance companies.
With Easy Compare plans, you'll know every plan within the same metal level — gold, silver or bronze — will have the same out-of-pocket costs for in-network services. You can explore your options and know the co-pays, co-insurance amounts and out-of-pocket maximums will be the same, regardless of which company offers the plan. So when you shop for health insurance, you can focus on a shorter list of differences:
- Providers: If your preferred doctor is in the plan's network
- Premiums: How much you pay the health insurance company each month
- Prescription drugs: If your prescription is covered and how much it costs
Focus on What's Important to You
Jim wants to keep his provider
Jim has just retired but isn't eligible for Medicare yet, so he's shopping for a private health plan through MNsure. Jim's had the same doctor for over 20 years and wants to make sure his doctor will be in-network with his new plan.
To simplify his shopping, Jim picks three Easy Compare gold plans from different insurance companies. Next, he checks the plan documents to find one that has his doctor in-network.
Mariana's focused on premiums
Mariana works as a freelancer. Her contract work varies a lot each month and so does her income. She doesn't anticipate needing much care next year, so Mariana's mind is on her budget.
Mariana filters her plan results so that she sees only Easy Compare bronze plans. She knows her trips to urgent care won't cost more than $75 at an in-network clinic. Now Mariana is ready to compare prices and choose a monthly premium that fits her budget.
Lee needs a specific prescription drug
Lee has high cholesterol and relies on a specific prescription drug to stay healthy. He knows the cost of his prescription depends on the plan he selects, and he wants to choose the plan with the best coverage for his medication.
Lee narrows his shopping to Easy Compare silver plans, and then checks the plan documents to see if his medication is covered — and how much it will cost — before selecting a plan.
Access the Services You Need
You'll only pay a set amount or "co-pay" for frequently used health care services when you use a provider in the plan's network — even if you haven't met your deductible yet. Examples of these costs are in the table below.
Examples of services covered with a co-pay | Easy Compare Gold plans | Easy Compare Silver plans | Easy Compare Bronze plans |
---|---|---|---|
Preventive care: annual checkups, screenings, vaccinations and more | FREE | FREE | FREE |
Primary care visit | $30 | $40 | $50 |
Urgent care visit | $45 | $60 | $75 |
Specialist visit | $60 | $80 | $100 |
Mental health and substance use disorder outpatient visits | $30 | $40 | $50 |
