MinnesotaCare Premium Payment Information
10/23/2026 9:08:48 AM
Approximately 4,000 Minnesotans were recently approved for MinnesotaCare because of federal changes to Medical Assistance eligibility for certain adult noncitizens. However, some individuals must pay an initial premium before their coverage can begin. Some individuals have a $0 premium. People who did not pay their initial premium in time for coverage to begin Oct. 1 can still pay in October to begin coverage Nov. 1.
Navigators and Certified Application Counselors play an important role in helping Minnesotans access health insurance. We want to make sure you have the information and resources you need to help people pay their MinnesotaCare premiums so they can access and maintain health coverage.
MinnesotaCare premiums can be paid online, by phone, by mail or in person. The After you apply for MinnesotaCare webpage provides detailed instructions for making premium payments, including photos of the MinnesotaCare approval notice and first premium invoice. This webpage is available in English, Spanish, Somali and Afaan Oromo. To view information in another language, use the “Select language” option.
Please use and share this resource to help people newly approved for MinnesotaCare pay their first premium and access health coverage. Also, remind people to watch their mail in late October for MinnesotaCare renewal paperwork for next year.
