Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) supports telehealth as a safe and effective way for its members to get care. When you interact with members, remind them they can get many health care services from home via telehealth using their phone or computer.
DHS has created a one-pager with information about telehealth to share with members. It is also linked from several webpages including the MinnesotaCare and Medical Assistance Coverage pages. Last week, DHS sent all MHCP members a text message reminding them of the telehealth option.
Telehealth meets the same standards as in-person services when clinically appropriate and helps reduce barriers like travel, clinic access, and safety concerns. MHCP covers and reimburses eligible telehealth services for members in managed care and fee-for-service programs. Members can call their doctor’s office to discuss a telehealth visit.
